A couple who suffered the tragic loss of their baby have made an incredible gift to the N&N’s bereavement midwifery team which is already helping grieving families.
Jessie and Ash’s daughter Nova was sadly “born sleeping” in October 2024.
Last month, the couple returned to the N&N to donate a privacy pram which they had purchased to support other families.
Jessie said: “During our foetal anomaly scan, Dr Timmons suspected that Nova had a fatal skeletal dysplasia.
“Upon further testing in partnership with Great Ormond Street, her diagnosis was confirmed and Nova was born sleeping.
“The care she and we received from the midwifery team was outstanding. We were so grateful as to how loved and cared for she was”.
Bereavement Midwife, Suzy Hankinson, said the donation of the pram would make a significant difference to the families in their care.
She said: “The privacy pram helps families to create memories, such as taking their baby for a walk and by providing dignified transport for those who wish to personally hand over care to the mortuary team.”
The pram has been specifically designed to offer privacy through a double hood and detachable privacy flap and has been manufactured to meet strict infection control standards.
Jessie and Ash said: “To be able to donate something in our daughter’s memory means the world to us.
“We feel so lucky to have received such amazing care, it’s important to us that the hospital and all of the amazing staff can continue to offer that same care to all parents who face similar heartbreaking situations.”
The prams are designed and produced by 4Louis which also provides memory boxes for families experiencing pregnancy loss or neonatal death at the N&N.
