With your donations we’ve been able to make vital improvements to the care, support and environment children and their families receive at the Jenny Lind Children’s Hospital.
The Jenny Lind Children’s Hospital is the second oldest dedicated children’s hospital in the country and it has been providing specialist care for children in Norfolk since it was opened in 1854.
The hospital was made possible thanks to the fundraising concerts featuring the Swedish opera singer Jenny Lind. Nicknamed the “Swedish Nightingale”, Jenny was one of the most popular entertainers in mid-19th century Europe – you may have seen her feature as a character in the hit film The Greatest Showman starring Hugh Jackman.
In 2024 more than 1000 babies were admitted to NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) where our specialist team have successfully cared for some of the country’s smallest preterm babies, born at 22 weeks.
In 2023, the hospital opened dedicated paediatric theatres complex with invaluable input on how to make it the most welcoming of places from our experts - Our patients.
Our Charity was asked for grant funding of £65,000 to commission and install artworks to make the new development a more child-friendly environment than the usual hospital facilities would be.
Thanks to your donations, the Charity has purchased a scanner which can reduce the discomfort and pain for young patients having intravenous procedures at the Jenny Lind Children’s Hospital.
Help us increase the amount of accommodation at the Jenny Lind Children's Hospital so that more children staying overnight can have a loved one nearby.
