You helped us to fund the purchase of an Epidural Training Simulator, which will be used to teach Anaesthetists in training, and to let those with more experience practise and maintain their skills.

The simulator has silicone ‘skin’ and interchangeable inserts to mimic different body types, so students and Anaesthetists can practise with a range of conditions, performing procedures like  single shot spinal blocks or inserting a spinal catheter. This type of spinal anaesthesia makes the patient numb from the waist down, so it is used during labour and for C-sections, as well as some surgeries like hip or knee replacements.

We are grateful to the N&N Hospitals Charity in helping us procure the Genesis Epidural-Spinal Injection Simulator. It is a valuable teaching and training tool that will help many Anaesthetists to practise and hone their skills in a safe environment and in the process, making the management of our patients safer and efficient

Dr. Siddharth Adyanthaya, Lead Consultant for Obstetric Anaesthesia

A well-placed spinal anaesthetic gives effective relief from pain and reduces stress for the patient, making their labour or procedure easier and more comfortable. Thank you for your support with practical training for our team and keeping our Anaesthetists’ skills sharp. We couldn’t do this without you.
